TIP 1 - Check App Permissions:

Every time you install an AI-powered app or software, it asks for certain permissions to function. Some of these permissions are necessary, but others might be intrusive.

How to stay safe:

• Grant only the permissions necessary for the app to work. For example, a chatbot app shouldn't need access to your location or contacts.
• Deny excessive permissions like camera and microphone access if they aren’t required.
• Regularly review and adjust permissions in your device settings.

Warning: Some AI apps may try to access sensitive data in the background. If an app requests unnecessary permissions, it may be collecting data for other purposes.

TIP 2 - Avoid Sharing Sensitive Data:

 TIP 4 -  Review Privacy Policies Before Using AI:

Before using an AI tool, you should read its privacy policy to understand how your data is collected, stored, and shared. However, privacy policies can be long and complicated.

You can copy and paste the privacy policy into an AI chatbot and ask it to summarize key points.

Key questions to ask AI about the privacy policy in question:

1.     Does this app share my data with third parties?
2.     Is my data stored permanently or deleted after a certain period?
3.     Does this app use my data to improve its AI model?
4.     Does the company allow me to delete my data upon request?
5.     Are there any security measures in place to protect my data?

How to stay safe:

•     If an AI app doesn’t have a privacy policy, that’s a red flag—avoid using it.
•     If the policy states that data is sold to third parties, be cautious about using the app.
•     Choose AI tools that allow users to delete their data and provide strong security protections.

AI tools and software need regular updates to fix security vulnerabilities. Hackers can exploit outdated versions of AI apps to access your data or take control of your device.

•     Enable automatic updates for AI apps, browsers, and operating systems.
•     Avoid using outdated AI models that are no longer maintained.
